If you have the palate for savory wood-fired dishes, these will surely impress. If you haven’t had Shishito Peppers before, Fear not! They do not taste anything like their cousins, the spicy jalapeño or the sweet bell pepper. These have a more subtle, light, and lemony flavor. They pair well with any dish, much like roasted asparagus or Brussel sprouts would. The wood-burning oven chars the peppers until they are fall-off-the-stem soft, making them easy to pop into your mouth and devour. For $9 these peppers aren’t cheap, but they do shine with tons of flavor.
Keeping it Simple…
Smoked Sea Salt and Olive Oil combine to dress up these delicious vegetables. Don’t worry, they aren’t too oily or salty to enjoy. I imagine they help draw out the flavor in the wood fire oven.
A Starter for the Perfect Fire-Roasted Meal…
The best way to enjoy these is with a drink from their full-service liquor bar, perhaps with another wood-fire-oven starter. They have Mac-N-Cheese and Chicken Wings, all baked to perfection with an open flame.
A perfect addition to Happy Hour…
According to their Facebook page, from 4-6 pm on Tuesday through Friday, you can score a freshly roasted ceramic bowl of Shishitos for a few bucks off. Not bad for a Downtown Eau Gallie staple.
If you have a chance, check out their connected, but still very hidden, Speakeasy “The Oleander Club”. Check out their instagram to see what kind of cocktails they craft. They also have an amazing desert pizza made with Nutella, graham crackers, and marshmallows!
